needless to say, you guys are the best.
i find myself all of a sudden waiting all week for fave five wednesdays.
do i need to get a life?

would have been fun to have marzano’s take on the fave five dishes. i’m sure you guys miss him.

just one criticism.
when you guys left out honeymooners from television shows, i let it go even though i believe that show spawned all modern sitcoms, but to leave out The Flintstones from cartoon fave five is criminal. shame on you and your families. your conscience will have to bear the burden of your iniquities.

looking forward to next week!
you guys rule

Flintstones was, originally, a prime time sitcom, so it was excluded from this list I think, as was Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy, etc.

That said, Flintstones probably deserved a mention (along with the Honeymooners) during the Top 5 TV Shows segment. The big snag might be that both of those shows had their first run well before the 411 hosts (and most of the listeners) were at their prime TV watching days. Honeymooners was (originally) mid-1950s, Flintstones was (originally) early to mid-1960s. Of course, they both were big in syndication, but still.

He Man Casey? Ouch. Corey’s list dominates. Even though I think Spongebob is a bit overrated, I love Fairly Oddparents. Might be one of the best shows on TV period, never mind just cartoons.

I really enjoyed listening to this week’s Fave Five. It brought back a lot of memories . . . of cartoons my kid’s used to watch. My list–dated and not in any particular order–would include:

1. Looney Tunes–A classic. No more need be said.
2. Johnny Quest–Action series. A great way to begin a Saturday morning.
3. Speed Racer–Watched this after school in 7th grade. No way can a movie come close to touching the original.
4. Whacky Races–A gaggle of strange contraptions racing each other on a weekly basis.
5. Rocky and Bullwinkle–Who can forget the Moose and the Squirel?

This was very tough for me, but here goes:
1. Scooby Doo (Where Are You?, Movies, Show and NO SCRAPPY!) – sentimental favorite from early childhood, plus I own it on DVD and still watch it when I catch it on TV
2. The Tick – simply too far ahead of its time, simply genius (the live show didn’t do it justice)
3. Batman: The Animated Series – Mike was absolutely right, I have the whole series on DVD, and the thought that anyone could feel Superman was even in the same league as this watching both back-to-back (as they used to air) is insane
4. Animaniacs/Pinky & The Brain – apart from Rita & Runt (sorry, Bernadette), these shows were a constant source of amusement and an evolution from the also-very-good Tiny Toon Adventures
5. Rocko’s Modern Life – the best animated series on Nick, the entire series takes up who knows how much of my DVR as I patiently await its release on DVD someday

Best of the rest:
Looney Tunes (esp. Bugs Bunny, Wile E. Coyote)
Danger Mouse
Tiny Toon Adventures
Taz Mania
Eek! The Cat
Bob and Margaret
Ren and Stimpy

I’m sure there’s others I’m forgetting, but these are pretty much the essentials.

1) Modern DC Cartoons (Justice League, Batman The animated series, Batman Beyond)
2) Pinky and the Brain
3) Wacky Races
4) Duckman
5) Scooby Doo

Yep, definitely have to give an HM at least to the Flintstones, along with Scooby Doo and Josies and the Pussycats. But what I like about the three newer ones I mentioned — Ren & Stimpy, SpongeBob and Oddparents — is that they are funny now that I’m an adult. Some of the older classic cartoons were so slapstick and absurd that they’d get boring very quickly now. My two cents.

I can’t belive not one person mentioned Invader Zim or Space Ghost. Abomination.

Corey I agree with you, I love Fairy Odd Parents and SpongeBob…

1. South Park
2. Mighty Heroes
3. Underdog
4. Star Blazers
5. Beavis & Butt-Head

Honorable Mentions

Fat Albert
Charlie Brown & Snoopy

Anyone remember Force Five, Inhumanoids, or Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors?

I had space ghost written down in HM’s but i guess i screwed up the cut and paste on that one……..Siano
