This is exactly why I hate head to head leagues and only play in one each year.  Amidst his Cy Young worthy season, Brandon Webb decides to have his worst week (13.00 ERA  2.67 WHIP) during Round 1 of the playoffs.  As expected, my season is now over and I’m getting set for a much anticipated fifth place game!

Whether you have any questions or simply need to vent, here’s where you do it.

Pimp in distress! First round of playoffs and its time to get paid. Sizzlers for all if we can pull out a win.

Head to Head Points League
2 Pts for IP
10 W or Save
1 K
-.5 BB or Hit allowed
-1 Run

I need to fill 4 pitching spots with the following

2 Start SP
Oliver Perez v. WAS (Lannan), ATL (Campillo) (2 Starts? Mets only play 5 games)
Jeff Suppan v. CIN (Ramon Ramirez), @PHI (TBA)
Yusmeiro Petit v. @SF (Lincecum), CIN (Volqez) (2nd start in question)

1 Start with match up I like
Kevin Slowey MIN v. KC (Davies)
Josh Johnson FLA v WAS (Tim Redding)
Gil Meche KC @ CLE (Cliff Lee)

Relievers
Brad Ziegler OAK v. @DET,TEX (7 games)
Luis Ayala NYM v. WAS, ATL (5 games)

Yep…. Webb ruined my playoff hopes in late August with his wonderful two-start blowup: 12ER / 8IP. Can’t stand H2H weeklies now. Tried giving it one more year, but no more!!! Zach: Sorry to hear…. I feel your pain :(

Fred…I’d go with Perez, Slowey and Johnson (both in great matchups), and either Petit (if we’re confident he’ll make two starts) or Ziegler. I’m leaning towards the starters here because of a couple of factors: we know they’ll pitch and the clear advantage in both Ks and IP. I’ll take Ziegler over Ayala mostly because he plays two more games.

Heres some more to consider
Vincente Padilla v. @SEA (King Felix), @OAK (Eveland)
Zach Greinke v. @CLE (Carmona)

How would you rank the following players as keepers for next year: Abreu, Victorino, Cliff Lee, Nate McLouth, Evan Longoria.

Thanks!
Todd in St. Louis

Longoria, Abreu, Victorino, McLouth, Lee. I’m not saying Lee is a one year wonder, but I don’t like the idea of keeping a pitcher who doesn’t have a proven track record of elite production. Abreu’s probably on the decline, but he’s been incredibly consistent from year to year. You should get at least one more solid season out of him. Victorino is on a better team than McLouth and has more SB upside.

Ok, Saito looks to be returning soon, and from the past Gallardo question (about keeping him on my roster), yall said Gallardo might come back as a reliever. Do I pick up Saito and drop Gallardo?

sorry, forgot to leave my name

Any worries about abreu’s wrist I’m considering sitting him in my h2h points leauge for a hot sin chooo choo with 8 games vs abreu 6

My points H2H has two week playoffs, and Webb threw me three stinkers. I managed to survive, thanks to Gil Meche of all people.

It’s been a nice run for him, but I might bench Webb for this week. It’s not just the game, but the benching of another guy like Slowey… who woulda thought that?
