Wow Will takes his 4th starting pitcher in the 12th and it is Harden!?! I would be more than pleased w/ Harden as my 2… I guess when you mock you try to win it on Draft Day instead of counting on wheeling and dealing.
I only count that as his 3rd SP. Very Strong Rotation though.
Zach, With Nathan and Fuentes you already have a very impressive Pen and 2 good starters with Dice-K and C-Zam although you might lead the league in walks with those two, which makes them a strange pairing. Great K’s and good ERA, but the WHIP might struggle.
But I am mainly interested in your thoughts regarding C-Zam who has plummeted in value this year compared to last. Along with Bedard, Harang and Verlander these 4 could offer tremendous value for those who are brave enough, but how do you compare them for this year. How do you explain last years drop off? Which would you take (And if so where) and who will you not touch with a barge pole?

Kevin, you’re right. Ideally, I wouldn’t want to pair Dice-K with Zambrano, but it was almost impossible to pass on the value of Big Z at the end of the 11th round. Despite the high walk totals, both Dice-K and Zambrano posted respectable WHIP numbers for the sole reason that they don’t give up a lot of hits. Zambrano underwent eye surgery during the offseason to correct blurry vision, a problem he says has bothered him for awhile. Could this have contributed to his inconsistency? Quite possibly. And don’t forget he was flat out dominant in the first half of ’08. The declining strikeouts is a legitimate concern, and I know a lot of people are down on him, but I have a gut feeling he bounces back.
Of the other three guys you mention, I’m least optimistic about Bedard. He burned me last year, and just seems to have a very low tolerance for pain. He’s really only had one and a half strong seasons, and it appears the Mariners still don’t even know what exactly is wrong with him. It’s a very strange situation, and I’m just unwilling to go through another year of it.
Harang and Verlander are both excellent value picks, but I chose Big Z since he has a longer track record of dominance. I strongly suggest taking a flier on one of these three, but keep it to one.

Rokhed, Price’s ADP in MDC.com is 134, which would mean 7th round in your format. It’s a very deep keeper league with big rosters, so presumably he’ll go in the 6th or even 5th round, maybe even higher. The question is, how high do you want to go for ANY pitching prospect? He looks like a good one, but we thought Verlander and Clay Buchholz would be studs too…
