We’re very excited for tonights show and why shouldn’t we be we get to do radio again and check out these guests.

-Will Carroll of Baseball Prospectus

-Jim Duquette former GM and co host on MLB Home Plate’s Power Alley Show and my idol.

-Eric Mack of CBSSports.com

-Ron Shandler of BaseballHQ but you knew that.

-More Tigers talk with Jason Beck of MLB.com

We won’t be taking calls this week since it’s a preview show but next week get your phones and e-mails ready because we are going to kick it old school, believe that!

MARINERS OUTFIELDER ICHIRO SUZUKI TO BE PLACED ON 15-DAY DL All-Star Outfielder Will Miss at Least Eight Games.

PEORIA, Ariz. — Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced today that All-Star outfielder Ichiro Suzuki will be placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 31, and will miss the first week of the regular season.

Ichiro had been suffering severe fatigue, causing him to miss the Mariners last three Cactus League games (March 30-April 1). He was examined by doctors in Arizona who determined that he had suffered a bleeding ulcer. The ulcer is not bleeding now, but in the interim, doctors have ordered restricted activity.

“It was a very difficult decision to place Ichiro on the disabled list,” Zduriencik said, “especially since we know what a fierce competitor he is, and how important it is to him to help the team. However, we determined it was in both his best interest, and the best interest of the club, to place him on the DL at this time.”

Ichiro will be eligible to return to Major League games on Wednesday, April 15.

will the show on mlb.com be live or when will it be available to see? I mean is there a one day waiting time like the podcasts on iTunes.

This freakin’ rocks!
Ed in Chi

Ed,

One day waiting time cmon now that cant be true. Yes it will be live on MLB.com 6-8pm ET om MLB.com while we are on the radio.

-Siano

Fantastic news guys. I was reading down dreading that it was going to be for US Radio only, but to have it as a podcast as well is great. I can now forget all other shows that I have had to waste my time listening to.

Great news!!!

I own BJ Upton in a league that only allows roster changes once every two weeks. So, if I benched BJ for week 1, he would also miss week 2 (in which he is supposed to be back). So, my question is, would you rather have 2 weeks of Ryan Spilbourghs or Travis Snider or 1 week of BJ Upton?

2 Days!!!!

Zach/Mike/Cory-

10 team, H2H mixed counting R, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, BA

Another team offered Hamilton/Dye for Kemp/Granderson

Rest of my team: Wieters/B. Molina/Dunn/Utley/Wright/Sdrew/Holliday/Abreu/Kemp/Granderson/Flopez.

Stay pat or proceed?

Thanks as always; PLAY BALL!!

Chicago Bil,

Snider is starting so I’d roll the dice on him since he was torrid in ST. Week three though is all boss man.

Blog is having some issues today or my water has been compromised…..Siano

Hey Guys,
Good news indeed. I hope Sirius/XM will last.
Where will the podcasts be available from?

Shane,
I’d rather have Kemp/Granderson.
-Siano

I don’t know if you guys got the question from above but here it is again.

where you can always find the podcasts. itunes or our podcast landing page at

-siano

manoman,

uhh yeah, this other GM must really love Braun to give you all those players and in essence just get him. Does he/she know Kotchman can’t hit, devine is hurt and Marmol is not the closer? Can I be in this league?
-Siano

He is also offering me this deal:
Braun
Kotchman
Marmol
Devine
for
Davis
Bruce
J.Shields
Lidge
Which one should I do?

whichever one you like better, to me you are winning both hands down…..Siano

Hey Guys,

In my 12 tm mixed non-keeper, Carlos Gomez(Minn), JD Drew, & R. Winn were all dropped. I have David Murphy as my 5th/Bench OF. Would you drop Dav. Murphy for any of those OF?

Also, in a 15 tm mixed non-keeper, who do you prefer as a 5th or bench OF: Ryan Sweeney or Ryan Church?

Thanks and have a good weekend.
Good luck on Satellite Radio! Neighbor Steve

Neighbor Steve:
With the Sheffield signing, you gotta figure Church will be losing some serious playing time (yes, they want him in RF, provided his shoulder is okay for throwing), so that’s not a hard choice in my opinion.

-Dan in LA

where is the link at mlb.com?? man that site is sending me in circles

trying to find the same thing with no luck

I dont think it’s being broadcast live.. or they would have made it easier to find

Chicago Bill, I agree with Siano that Snider was torrid, but check out Spilborghs’ spring (including tonight): .328-5-21-6 in 64 AB’s. Plus, he’s batting leadoff and, if he gets off to a decent start, I think it will be Seth Smith who loses PT to Fowler, not Spilborghs. By contrast, Snider is going to start out batting 8th or 9th in a very weak Blue Jays lineup.

Unfortunately though the Rockies only play 11 games in the first two weeks, and the Blue Jays play 14. This is a toss-up but in either case I do believe you are better off taking two weeks from either rather than one from Upton, just in case he doesn’t come back on 4/13 as currently scheduled, or if he gets off to a slow start.

–Cory

Shane, agreed with Siano… Kemp/Granderson. Hamilton is the best of the bunch but you’re getting two 2nd/3rd round players for a 1st and a 7th/8th. Three dimes is worth more than a quarther and two pennies.

That makes no sense, but I was making a comparison. I think you get the point.

–Cory

Manoman, again I agree with Siano… you’re winning big here. Don’t haggle too much, dont’ let this guppy off the hook! — Cory

NS, I would take a long look at Sweeney, who has a good base of skills, is having a good spring and is batting leadoff in front of Cabrera, Holliday, Cust and Giambi… not a bad spot. Drew is interesting also because we know he can put up monster numbers if healthy. And, I’m not a big Daniel Murphy fan… I hate to be the guy at the craps table betting against the roller, but I’m not impressed by corner OF’s who have 10-12 homer power and don’t steal. If they move him back to 2B to replace Castillo, I might get interested, but at OF… meh.

–Cory

Excellent show Friday night gents. Thank you for continuing to evolve the show.

loved the new show – the 411 magic is back…
i don’t know if it’s the radio format or what, but it was great – gotta get berry back on the show to let that closer debate going again…
anyways, very happy with the longer format, but especially the radio format – i just think the conversation flows better without the camera rolling and that’s what makes the 411 a great show

Thanks guys… “radio style” is indeed how the 411 got its start so we love doing it that way. Wait ’til this week when we can starting taking calls live again! The possibilities are endless! No “F# bombs” please though. :-)

–Cory

Please rate my team for strengths and weaknesses: What should I be trading for?
McCann, Brian
Cantu, Jorge
Roberts, Brian
Beltre, Adrian
Tejada, Miguel
Renteria, Edgar
Giambi, Jason
Braun, Ryan J.
Choo, Shin-Soo
Maybin, Cameron
Murphy, David
Berkman, Lance
Jackson, Edwin
Oswalt, Roy
Joba
Volstad, Chris
Zambrano, Carlos
Nathan
Soria

Tommy G, what is the format? How many teams? What’s the lineup breakdown?

–Cory

So, am I going to be able to listen in on the radio show via the internet? Didn’t someone say it will be available as a live stream on MLB.com? I already got cable to watch the excellent preview show, now you want me to subscribe to satellite radio? Geez, you guys are busting up my wallet! Well if I can’t listen in can I make blind calls?
-Another Mike

Mike,

Yes, the Sirius show will be available live through MLB.com via audio stream, so no $$$ necessary.

Zach

5X5 Mixed 12 Team League
C Mcann
1b – Cantu
2b – Roberts
SS – Tejeda
3b- Beltre
MI – Renteria
CI – Giambi
OF- Braun
OF- Ichiro
OF- Daniel Murphy
OF- Choo Clev
Util- Berkman
SP- Zambrano
SP Oswalt
SP David Price
SP Baker Min
SP Joba
RP Nathan
RP Soria
RP Perez (minors)

Tommy, I think this team is a little thin for a 12-team mixed non-keeper with short rosters. Areas of concern:

CI – Cantu, Beltre and Giambi… good power, could utterly kill your AVG;
MI – Renteria barely rosterable in this format;
OF – Murphy also fringy, today notwithstanding;
SP – Price in the minors, Baker on the DL (only for one start though)

Start with MI, you should be able to do better than Renteria, and use your bench to shore up your SP depth. And hope Ichiro gets healthy soon, too.
