Drop Gamel for Reimold? 12 team mixed 5×5

10 team mixed 5X5 keeper, up to eight keepers, 2 bench spots, 1DL.

Do I drop Kazmir and/or LaPorta?

I am stuggling right now because I have injured Aramis Ramirez and Joakim Soria. Additionally, I have Carlos Quentin, Hanley Ramirez and Derrek Lee who are all day to day.

Thanks.

Ugh, I have Sizemore too, add him to the list of day to day guys above!

Hi guys,
Thanks for the great advice on NL keepers. It really helped me to give confirmation on my still high hopes for Nolasco in 2010.
I want to get your feedback on some other possible keepers (12 team deep NL keeper 5×5 with minor league roster)
Fred Lewis (he is a bargain at 1$)
Sean West (who as a minor league callup gets an automatic 3 year contract for 7$(so through 2012)
Any thoughts on the short and long term potential of these guys would be great. I am really looking at Lewis as a cheap source of steals but am a little worried about him being consistent enough to keep a starting job.

PS: I am posting to pitch or ditch rather than Q&A because of the time change here.

Hey guys! Elijah Dukes, Mark DeRosa, or Jack Cust?
Got a guy willing to deal me Cust or DeRo for Dukes (even before he returns from DL). This is a 10 team H2H mixed keeper league that uses OBP instead of Avg.

My roster is listed below for your reference

Thanks,
Big Mike

C=Br.Inge
1B/CI/3B=Fielder, Berkman, Mig.Cabrera
2B/MI/SS=Utley, Kinsler, Peralta
LF/CF/RF/OF/OF=Bay, Sizemore, N.Cruz, Crawford, Cuddyer
Util=Thome
SP(4)=Johan, Josh Johnson, Vazquez, Harang,
P(3)=Jer.Weaver, Edw.Jackson, Wakefield
RP(4)=Fuentes, Soria, Qualls, Marmol,
Bench= Liriano, McCarthy, Hardy, E.Dukes, Hart, Sheffield
DL=Webb, Smoltz, Ianetta, Burrell

Guys,

12 team mixed 5×5 league (OBP in place of AVG)

I’ve been offered BJ Upton and Paul Maholm for Edwin Jackson and Kendry Morales.

All things being equal, do you do that deal? I like Upton but he’s been scary bad so far thsi season. Thx.

Hola Mi Amigos,
Have a deal on the table and would like your opinion. It is a 5×5 12 team vanilla. I would give up Grienke, Hart and Spilborghs. In return I get Braun, Hardy, and Duke. I would be left with:
Myers, Wandy, Wolf, Jimenez, Marshell, Nolasco, and POD as my pitchers.
What are your toughts?

Thanks
T

Hey guys love the podcast and the blog-
I am in a very deep league and got out the gates very slow in all my batting catagories and near the bottom in all of them. I took a chance on Sheff and he is paying off right now… so my question is do you think I should try and move him or do I look to shop him and what kind of player do you think I should target if you suggest that route.

Thanks,
MikeNYC

Hey Guys,
Am I Crazy or what?
Another Trade Question:
Weekly 12 team mixed points league, we start 5 pitchers, 3 OF and a utility. I have Greinke, Verlander, Lincecum, Josh Johnson, Wandy, and Tallet for SP. I have Kemp, BJ, Hamilton, and Reimold in OF. I have been offered Sizemore and James Shields for Lincecum. I’m hesitant to make this trade, am I crazy or what? Sizemore is the best player Shields is an OK Pitcher, but Lincecum is other worldly.

Fred in cali,
That’s fine but realize reimold may be in a platoon situation with Pie now or get sent down. The O’s would have to bail on Pie completely for reimold to play everyday. Scott is back at DH.

Eli,
In a ten teamer you can def cut Kaz. LaPorta may have some value in second half and should have full value in 2010 but it looks like you have some solid keepers already so weigh the bench spot and if its a handcuff let him loose.
-Siano

Larry,
I usually support specialists as keepers in non kixed when a buck so as of now sure why not but definitley don’t sacrifice a better player come decision time if its only a few bucks more. West is a big prospect who can pay off maybe in 2010 but most likely 2011. So it looks like low risk high reward on that contract.
-Siano

Big Mike,
I prefer Dukes, does more, higher ceiling.
-Siano

Brian,
I like that deal very much, in a mixed Morales’ value isnt in BJ’s galaxy.
-Siano

T,
Love that you get Braun don’t love that you seriously deplete your pitching. It’s a risk pitching wise b/c you are not strong in the rotation. if the offensive gains seriously outweigh the pitching then fine, but I’d like you to counter and see if you can maybe offer a different arm (Wandy?).
-Siano

MikeNYC,
Sure if you can move Sheff do it, but I’m not sure what value you can get for a +40 guy who at times has looked awful as well. Have very low expectations, I’d rather find someone on the wire then deal for Sheff since that’s where you found him anyway.
-Siano

mwilmoth,
you have to do that deal, you have a great staff and still get best player in the deal plus Shields. Yes you are crazy not to do this deal.
-Siano

done here, head over to today’s new post……Siano

Siano,

So would Schumaker at 5 bucks be too much to pay for Lewis at 1 buck? my instinct is no, but schumaker eligable at 2B does lift his value.

What do you think of Wellemeyer at 7$ (through 2010) and Schumaker (5$ through 2010) for west (7$ through 2012) and Lewis (1$ through 2010)? I dont think this would do it. This is a team that is first place while Im in 10th place out of 12 (mainly because I traded most of my good keepers to get in the money last year).
Im wondering how much more to offer. I can add buy low players like Giles or Willingham, but I would think that Giles must have at least a better 2nd half coming to increase his trade value. He doesnt seem like the type of hitter that goes from .300 to dropping off a cliff in one year even at his age.
