Hey guys, off to a great start with the new show!

12 team h2h – Weekly roster locks.

I have Halladay, J Santana, Burnett as my 123 respectively. Blanton went down so Im scrambling for my 4,5 pitchers. I have to choose 2 of 4 here before Monday:

Hughes(ANA), Zito(PIT,@LA), Marcum(ANA), Slowey(BOS).

Zito is a 2 start pitcher but his second start is against LA and Slowey will see Boston so I’m really low on him next week. Let me know what you think & Thanks again 411

Ed,

I like Zito in a two-start week (Dodgers’ offense doesn’t scare me) and would go with Marcum for the second pitcher. I don’t know what to expect from Hughes and Slowey vs. Boston is too risky for my taste.

Hey guys, need some starting pitching help. I was thinking about starting 3 closers this week (monday-sunday) but can’t figure out who to sit.
Starters: ANDERSON@sea, bal; GARZA@bal,@bos; HANSON@sd; JIMENEZ@atl; KERSHAW ari, sf; J.SANCHEZ pit; LIRIANO bos; W.RODRIGUEZ @stl, @chi
Closers:BAILEY, F. ROD, MARMOL, DOTEL

I need to sit 3 pitchers, I’m thinking Dotel and Liriano for 2 of them. Should I sit a starter and play 3 closers, or something completely different? Thanks for any input.

Hey 411, I have a question about a couple of outfielders, I have drafted J Pierre, and M bourne, There are two free agents I have been watching. Magglio Ordonez, and Franklin Gutierrez should I add/drop for either or both of these guys? No trades in this league.

fanofthegiants,

I usually like to do either a 7-2 or 6-3 SP to RP ratio for weekly leagues and since you’ve got four quality closers, 6-3 is usually the way I’d go. However, next week your one-start pitchers have such great matchups that I’d go 7-2 and sit Liriano, Dotel and Bailey.

Zach

Hey Guys,

I’m wondering if it might be useful to not use a postion slot for a week. I currently have Marson as my one of my cathers and i have C Santana on my RL. Since, so far, Marson is killing my avg and not getting any runs or rbi… I am thinking of dropping Marson and moving C Santana to C so I can pick up B Harris or a pitcher.

I am in a 8 team AL only roto league, there is no FAB just 1st come 1st served on free agents. But since Marson is really a negative right now…I wonder about not having a catcher for a week or two to see if Harris can get more time. There is also some pitchers I wouldn’t mind picking up to see if they are worth keeping before other owners see them become consistent.

BTW, the only catchers that are available that are worth considering are J Kendall or R Johnson.

Thanks

MMM

sollowen,

Not sure how the rest of your team is constructed but I kinda like the idea of dominating SBs with both Bourn and Pierre, particularly considering that there are no trades allowed. Either of those two would probably get picked up in a second if you would drop them. I just hope you balanced them out with some mashers or this could be a very long season!

mmsox,

I’d wait it out with Marson a little longer. As tempting as it is to dump him, I never like to give up an opportunity to pick up counting stats, however small they may be. He’s getting close to regular playing time and that’s usually good enough for a non-mixed catcher. Remember that other teams are starting a lot of guys with low averages too and that AVG is only one of the five hitting stats (though we can say four as SBs really aren’t in play here). Give it some more time.

Zach

Hey, guys.
I am on ROTO league, and so far it seems that I am little short on runs, and I am considering two options for my 2B. Should I stick with Howie Kendrick or should I pick up Martin Prado and drop Kendrick?

Hey 411 you guys are great love the new show on t.v. i made sure i got every show recorded. Well Im stacked at hitting in a daily roster 12 team 5×5 keeper league and was offered manny or carlos lee for aaron hill. I got Cano already at 2b and my OF is Kemp Werth Cargo and Quentin is my util. Should i pull the trigger on either or keep hill as depth at 2b? I also got Sean Rod who will be eligible at 2b very soon. Thanks for the advice in advance guys.

sorry, I also have kemp, rasmus,a.rios, & Gonzalez, Carlos

iwlee,

Stick with Kendrick. Staying on the field has been his major problem but as long as he’s healthy he’s got more all-around upside than Prado. Prorate Howie’s stats from last year (105 games) over a full season and you’ve got around 90 runs, 15 homers and just under 20 steals. Maybe 2010 will finally be the year he avoids injury! As for Prado, aside from a nice AVG, he just doesn’t offer that much. I don’t see the Runs difference between the two being that great.

deamonizer,

Sounds like you don’t have a MI spot so in that case I’d make the deal. I think you can do better than Hill at Util and there’s no point in having him sit on your bench when you can get value for him. Now one can make the argument that by acquiring Manny or Lee (who would be my preference) you’d be forced to bench either CarGo or Quentin, but since there are three OF slots in addition to the one Utility, the chances of you needing a replacement there are greater than at 2B. I’m fine with you shopping Hill around to see if a better offer comes around but I’m also OK with doing a Hill for Lee trade.

sollowen,

The way Magglio is hitting right now it’s tempting to snatch him up, but I’d stick with Pierre and Bourn. Your OF isn’t exactly power stacked but it’s not like Magglio or Gutierrez are 30 HR guys anyway. You’ve got a ton of speed so I’d enjoy the advantage and at least build up a solid lead in the category before possibly making a move like this later in the year depending on how you’re doing with respect to both power and speed.

Zach

Hey guys, with Frank Francisco losing the closer job in TEX, would u drop Leo Nunez for Neftali Feliz? Does he keep the job for the year?

hey 411, is it to early to give up on jay bruce? should I hold on to him?

I was intruiqed by Carmona’s spring training. I know that spring training stats don’t mean much, but I see promise. However, Brad Penny, Dallas Braden, Zack Duke are available on waiver wire. Should I play pitch/ditch given Penny faces Houston on tuesday or is Carmona worth a “hold” as a 6th starter. Also could replace him on my bench with a bat. I hear very good things about Kyle Blanks. Is he worth a pick-up? Solid, but nothing special in my OF (Victorino, Frank Gutierrez, Hunter Pence, Connor Jackson, and Ryan Ludwick).

Ben,

I’d try to drop someone else first but if it has to be Nunez I’m fine with it. Risky decision since Nunez is the definitive Marlins’ closer while the Texas situation is still up in the air but I think Feliz holds onto the job so I’d make the move.
*****************************************************
Jeff,

It’s definitely too early to give up on Bruce. If last season is any indication, he’s a very streaky player. He’s liable to go on a tear at any moment.
****************************************************
dcanada,

Play pitch or ditch with that group. I’m still very uncomfortable with Carmona and would have a hard time inserting him into my regular rotation. As for Blanks, I’m fine with you picking him up for bench depth. His AVG might kill you (as it’s killing two of my teams right now) but the power is legit.

Zach
