Pitch or Ditch for Wednesday, July 7

or Ditch is a strategy for (ideally) daily mixed leagues in which you
pick up
starters on a day-to-day basis based on how well they are pitching and
upcoming matchups, then cut them in favor of new guys the next guy. The
is that the shallower the league, the more quality starting pitching is
available on the free agent wire, so rather than drafting expensive
it’s better to build a strong offense and bullpen and let the free agent
populate your starting staff during the season. As a bonus, a handful of
guys emerge each year as worth keeping all year long, like Jair Jurrjens
year or Cliff Lee in ’08.

I declined a trade where I would have gotten Lincecum and Tori Hunter for CC and Kemp. Was it a wash trade anyhow? I don’t love Timmy but was tempted to have him on my squad as I have Halladay also.

Hi Guys,
Granderson seemed to be so hyped last year, and now is in the gutter. Do you see him improving? Ryan Braun for Lester/Granderson was offered, and I would be very happy to get Lester, but I have doubts over Granderson heating up + playing time. Keeper league too.

Hey guys could you rank these starters for tmrw:
Moyer, Medlen, Neise, & Arroyo.
Thanks…I only have 1 PoD slot for tmrw and trying to decide which to take.

Could you rank these closers for the rest of the year, Street, Lidge, Capps, Aardsma. Thanks

That’s an interesting challenge trade but I think you made the right decision. Lincecum has been a little disappointing this year to the point where I see the CC to Lincecum swap as pretty much a wash. Would still choose Kemp’s upside over Hunter’s consistency.

Just answered your question on the other post.

I’ll go with Moyer with Medlen a close second. Jamie’s been ridiculously good of late, sports a 3.00 home ERA and has dominated Atlanta this year (15 IP 0 ER).

hey, saw 2 pitchers coming off the 60 day dl and was wondering if they were worth a spot on my team for the second half…. could you rank these pitchers

J Sanchez

Sorry long list just wondering if i should make room for either volquez or bedard

-James Ny

Would you drop any of my outfielders/utility positions for Brennan Boesch?
Alfonso Soriano
Chris Young

in a head to head points league. have Tulo, pedroia and elisberry. All on my bench no pitch or ditch with all these spots taken . How long do you see these guys out and how good will they be when they get back? I need help. Every week counts but if you think they will be great I will try to crawl to the play-offs and hope for the best.
Have Fur. at s.s.,Kendrick at 2nd.Willinghamat o.f.

Do you see Wandy Rodriguez as a viable option from here on out after his last three great starts? Has he actually turned the corner? And has Troy Glaus hit the proverbial wall after his hot start? The last month he’s been pretty bad. And could A.Ramirez be on his way back to respectability? Thanks

How about David Wright now? Can we agree that people gave up on him way too early and were shallow focused on him after one bad fluke year. He should not have been a Round 3 pick this year but a top 15 player close to the top 10. Most “experts” really were wrong on him.

Anyway, Who gets the next closer job either b/c of performance/injury/trade? Motte, League, Putz, Meek, (anyone else)?

Hey guys,
Trade Questions in a 12 team Mixed points League.
I have been offered Rollins and Clayton Richard for Matt Kemp, and I have Offered Rollins for King Flex. So all in all I trade Matt Kemp for King Flex and Richard. What do you think? We start 3 OF and a DH I have BJ Upton, Justin Upton, Car-go, and Jay Bruce. My SP are Lester, Nolasco, Jaime Garcia, Cecil, Hammel, Bailey, Bedard, De La Rosa.

I am in a relatively standard 12 team roto league and am currently last in steals. I have an offer of Scott Podsednik for Andrew Bailey. I also have Broxton, Alsford and Kerry Woods (we can only start 3 relief pitchers).

Is this a good trade?

Alternatives would include asking for Chris Perez as security on Woods or Shane Victorino

I’d rank them Street, Capps, Lidge, Aardsma.

I like the idea of picking up Volquez or Bedard (particularly Volquez) but wouldn’t make that move at the expense of your current starters. Stand pat.

Was never a big Boesch guy but at this point you have to respect what he’s doing and pick him up. I’d lean towards cutting Willingham with Span and Soriano also fine choices but definitely hold onto Young and Andrus.

Yeah, I think you have to hold onto all three of those guys…they’re simply too good to drop. Reports on Tulo are particularly encouraging. I could see him return in 3-4 weeks.

I’m very optimistic that Wandy is starting to turn the corner but would still only play him in favorable matchups for now. Need to see a little more before anointing him a POD grad.
Go ahead and bench Glaus for the time being if you have a better alternative but as long as he’s not injured I think he’ll continue to post solid, yet not All-Star caliber, numbers. As for A-Ram, I’m least high on him but with the 3B position not at all deep this year, he still belongs on rosters. Who knows, maybe yesterday’s huge game is the start of something big.

I’d go with League but Motte’s a close second after Franklin’s colossal blowup last night.

Pass. King Felix is great but Kemp is once again producing like a first rounder and Richard might be hitting a wall. His velocity was down last night and his control was off too.

Bailey is too much to give up for Pods. Bailey for Victorino is a lot better but I’d try Axford (or Wood if you can pull that off) for Pods.

I’d be scared. I’ll go against Mike and Cory here and say ditch on Gio.

Am I the only one that is scared to play Gio vs the NYY tonight? Both Siano and Cory say pitch.
