Pitch or Ditch for Saturday-Sunday, July 10-11

or Ditch is a strategy for (ideally) daily mixed leagues in which you
pick up
starters on a day-to-day basis based on how well they are pitching and
upcoming matchups, then cut them in favor of new guys the next guy. The
is that the shallower the league, the more quality starting pitching is
available on the free agent wire, so rather than drafting expensive
it’s better to build a strong offense and bullpen and let the free agent
populate your starting staff during the season. As a bonus, a handful of
guys emerge each year as worth keeping all year long, like Jair Jurrjens
year or Cliff Lee in ’08.

chart June 29.pdf

Lackey @ Morrow
Lackey is gradually returning to form

Blackburn @ Bonderman
– Bad matchup for slumping Bonderman

Bannister @

Laffey @ Garza
– If you can’t start Garza here, where can you?

Kazmir @ Sheets –
neither are impressing lately

Vazquez @ King

Pelfrey – That’s right, ditch slumping Pelfrey

Gorzelanny @

T. Wood @

Suppan @ Myers
– Myers bounced back last time

Karstens @

Robertson @ Kennedy –
Kennedy awful lately

LeBlanc @

Pavano @

Matsuzaka @
Litsch – I just don’t trust Dice-K in this matchup

Masterson @

Greinke @

Arrieta @
Wilson – Wilson 2 ER or less in each of his last six starts

Weaver @
Cahill – Cahill should bounce back from rough outing vs. Yanks

Sabathia @

Lowe @ J.
– Lowe a little risky here but I’ll throw him out there

Maloney @

Bumgarner @
Livan – Livan maddeningly inconsistent lately

Hawksworth @
Wandy – Wandy definitely back on radar but I don’t like this matchup

Lincoln @
Wolf – Coming off two straight strong starts, Wolf worth a shot here

Richard @
Francis – Pitch Francis if you’re feeling lucky but he’s struggled of late

Sanabia @

Silva @
Padilla – I like what I’ve seen from Padilla recently

could you rank these 3 for the rest of the year, Posey, C.Santana, and Montero. Thanks

Throw Suzuki in there too.

I’ve been offered Adam Wainwright for Alex Rios. I am leading all hitting categories and My offence is stacked, but my pitching is sub par.

Should I bite?

This is the offence in question:
C – Mccann, Santana, Posey
1b – Ortiz, Cuddyer, Swisher
2b – Cano, Prado (1b, 2b, 3b)
3b – Beltre, A. Ramirez
SS – H. Ramirez
OF – Hart, Rios, Crawford, Guererro
Who would be expendable in the 2nd Half in a trade for ACE pitching?

5×5 10 team roto

My SPs are Gallardo, Haren, Buchholz, J Garcia, Latos, Oswalt, Danks.

My SS is Aybar and A Gonzalez, Uribe are on waivers.

Should I trade Danks for Rollins or add one of the listed players off waivers?

I have to admit I’m totally aboard the Santana and Posey bandwagons so I’ll say Santana, Posey, Montero. I still like Montero but just don’t see as much upside, even if we’re only talking about 2010.

As for Suzuki, I’ll rank him ahead of Montero but behind the two rookies.

A totally fair offer that makes a whole lot of sense for you. Go ahead and do it!

On a side note, why exactly do you need three catchers? I’m sure you could get a solid return for any one of those guys.

I’m fine with Rios for Wainwright. I think it perfectly addresses your needs.

Yeah, I’d take a chance on Danks for Rollins. You have plenty of starting pitching and could definitely use **** upgrade. Injuries aside, Rollins has been very disappointing this year, but his track record is too impressive to ignore. I think he’ll get back on track. Uribe’s in the midst of a massive cold spell, so I’d be hesitant to add him right now.

Hey guys. 10 team H2H. I need to make room for Dela Rosa and Beltran.
Who should i drop going foward?

Scott Baker, Hiroki Kuroda, Dice-K, Carl Pavano, Joel Pineiro, Ricky Romero? I have T. Glaus (backup 3b) who i’ll probably drop as 1 guy, unless you say otherwise, but i need to drop a 2nd guy. We start 4 starting pitchers per week. I have Halladay, Lincecum, Weaver, Cain, J. Garcia, and now Dela again. So i’m sort of deep at pitching. Any insight would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Jeggs

Since you only start four pitchers each week and the league is a shallow one where solid pitchers will likely always be available on the wire, I’d actually dump both Baker and Dice-K and hold onto Glaus. But if you’re only looking to drop one pitcher, I’d pick Dice-K. He’s just too inconsistent and the high walk rate scares me. Baker’s also been very up and down but he’s traditionally a strong second half pitcher and doesn’t hurt himself with walks. I can definitely see him turning things around.

I recently traded away ryan howard and scott backer for verlander granderson and berkman. i have a rod and hamilton for power so howard was just icing on the cake.. Was this the right move for my team in need of pitching??? My pitchers are Johan

along with my pitchers, burnett, hudson, price, and sheets

Yeah, I think you got a great return there. Although you gave up the best player in the deal, you got back a stud pitcher plus an outfielder in Granderson who has a good chance of bouncing back in the second half. And that’s not to mention Berkman, who’s been on a tear of late after an awful start to the season.
