Pitch or Ditch for Thursday, July 29

or Ditch is a strategy for (ideally) daily mixed leagues in which you
pick up
starters on a day-to-day basis based on how well they are pitching and
upcoming matchups, then cut them in favor of new guys the next guy. The
is that the shallower the league, the more quality starting pitching is
available on the free agent wire, so rather than drafting expensive
it’s better to build a strong offense and bullpen and let the free agent
populate your starting staff during the season. As a bonus, a handful of
guys emerge each year as worth keeping all year long, like Jair Jurrjens
year or Cliff Lee in ’08.

Emergency! I need to solve this before the OTHERS in my league get a clue! Domonic Brown was just called up. I am in a ten team h2h mixed league with 5 keepers and one rookie keeper. My current rookie keeper is Austin Jackson. Do I make D. Brown my new rookie keeper so I do not have to add him to my bench until a two year limit, or should I just add him directly now? If I make D. Brown my rookie keeper, Austin Jackson has to be added to my bench immediately or to the waiver wire. His average is very good, but I am not excited so far with the other categories. Please help me with this. I am in third place, the best I have EVER experienced at this point of the season (5 years playing), and do not want to screw this one up. Oh yeah, and you heard it here first…Jose Bautista is the fantasy devil! How else could he be crushing it like this?

Mixed keeper league. Should I drop one or two of my pitchers for Cueto or Travis Wood? Which should I drop?

James Shields

Hey guys,
5X5 Vanilla. My best chance to make up some points during the stretch run is in SB.
I’m 8 SB away from making up 3 points. Who would you rather have, Span or Pagan??

Hi guys,
12tm, Y!, mxd.
i have picked up Valencia, need to drop one of these:
Rasmus, Colvin or Seth Smith. Need all around production, not specifics.
Ur take?
THX. Danny

Malikjaru: Drop Shields for Cueto.
Raymondrays: Pagan no question
Faveri: Drop Seth Smith

As long as you’re solid in speed, yeah, I’d take a chance on Brown over Jackson. Brown has always been a high AVG guy but has recently developed into a fine power hitter. He’s got the higher ceiling in my opinion.

I’d wrestle with the Cueto vs. Shields decision as Shields could get hot while Cueto has a tendency to occasionally get pounded. But ultimately, I agree that you should add Cueto and drop Shields. At this point in the season, you have to make decisions based on results, and Cueto’s simply the better pitcher right now.

Go with Pagan. Not only does he have a few more steals than Span but he’s been the far more productive player across the board.

I like Seth Smith a lot but he’s still the one to cut for the main reason that everyday playing time is no sure thing going forward, particularly if Dexter Fowler heats up.

So Victorino is out😦 Who do you think is the best replacement Utility man? my WW options that I think are possibilities would be:

Brett Gardner, Luke Scott, Gordon Beckham, Johnny Gomes, Scotty Pods, Matsui

Other than than it’s pretty limited. What about that kid they called up to replace Victo? He went 2-4 with a double and 2 runs scored.. is he a viable option as well?

Howdy gents,

I need BA and SB. Who do you think will provide better value for me the rest of the way? Podsednik, Logan Morrison, or Domonic Brown? With Pods I’m concerned about playing time. WIth Brown, not sure he’ll play much when Victorinio comes back (unless Werth is traded). MOrriison won’t steal bags but should hit for high average and looks to be guaranteed playing time the rest of the year.

Ok guys,
I had Kinsler hit the DL at a very bad time of year. I have Pettite on DL now & only 1 DL spot..I definitely am not dropping Kinsler or Pettite but I am going to drop my PoD slot…question is who do I pick up: Uribe, Beckham, Kendrick, Theriot, Callaspo, Sean Rodriguez, Or Desmond???
Appreciate the help…hopefully asap! haha
Thanks as always…

Well, if you’re looking for power, Scott’s the choice. But I think the best option is Gardner, who will more than make up for Victorino’s speed while also contributing in AVG and runs. Gardner gets the edge over Pods as Podsednik’s playing time figures to be somewhat limited. Brown is a nice speculative pickup in standard 12 team leagues but I still prefer Gardner.

If speed is your biggest need, I think you still have to go with Pods at least for the short term. But generally speaking, I’d lean towards picking up Brown and then worry about playing time once Victorino comes back. Just hope Morrison performs poorly enough that he’ll still be available:-)

I know Kendrick’s been slumping but I still see him as the best all-around player of that group. He’d be my choice.

Depends on what your biggest needs are. Uribe for power, Theriot for AVG and SBs and Scutaro for AVG and runs.

i need **** or a 2B which should i get
Juan Uribe
Marco Scutaro
Ryan Theriot

SS or 2B
