Hey do you Think Gio will turn in around….. Luebke, Tomlin and Harrison are on the free agent market….think any of them will be better for ROS?

Alan,

Luebke might, but I wouldn’t drop Gio to pick him up. I’d try to drop someone else and pick up Luebke for added depth. He really doesn’t belong on any waiver wire.

Zach

Ok, i have Neftali Feliz. I know he is about to lose his job!!! Should i go and grab Mike Adams and wait for that moment to happen?? OR do i hit the wire and get some one that has the closer role already, like. Kevin Gregg,Javy Guerra,(even tho im a Giants fan and never had a dodger on my team),Mark Melancon,Jason Isringhausen. Thank u and love the show!!

Lucas,

I’d pick up Adams and Guerra…Adams as insurance to Feliz and Guerra because it looks like he’s firmly entrenched in the Dodgers’ closer role.

Zach

Should I pick up Cameron Maybin and drop B.J. Upton…. I need to cut down on k’s (batting wise)……… My outfield is solid I have Ichiro, Nelson Cruz, J.D. Martinez and Carl Crawford I’m in 9th place but creeping up to 6th and 7th and the playoffs are in two weeks

Or should I drop B.J. Upton and pick up a pitcher?

Robby,

At this point, I don’t really have a problem with you doing that. Now is the time when we throw out the names and focus on results.

Zach

Dear Zach,
C Yound (OF) is on the wire. Should I exchange him for one of this players, looking to have the best for the ROS:
Hart, Melky Cabrera, JD Martinez (He’s been HOT!!!), Prado, Jed Lowrie (utility), Yunel Escobar
I’m in a 12 team mixed keeper league.
Thanks,
MF

MF,

Yes, I’d pick up Young for Lowrie in a second. I just don’t consider Lowrie an appealing fantasy option. He’s not a difference maker at all, especially since you’re playing him at utility and not making use of his multi-positional eligibility. I think he’s overrated because he’s on the Red Sox.

Zach

I was thinking about trading Arencibia, Konerko, Josh Hamiltion, and Brandon Morrow for Mike Napoli, Prince Fielder, Andrew McCutchen, and Ricky Romero. What do you think? I was looking to upgrade at catching and get some steals.

Matt,

Not only would you be upgrading at catcher but you’d be upgrading at first base and starting pitcher and at worst breaking even at outfield. Consider yourself very fortunate if you can pull off this trade.

Zach

Hey Zach,
My current rotation includes: Hamels, Jurrjens, Ogando, Pineda, Lester, Vogelsong, Kuroda, and Scherzer.
This is what is available: Luebke, Buehrle, Lohse, Beachy, Leake, McCarthy, Gee, Wolf, Niemann, and Morrow.
Any move you would make or sit tight? I know its a lot to consider but I just want to make sure I’m not missing anything. This is a H2H 10 team league with a lot of pitching categories. Thanks in advance.
Rich D.

Rich,

The one move I’d make would be to drop Ogando for Luebke. Ogando’s really starting to fade with his innings count piling up and I’d rather cut ties with him a little too soon than too late. Other than that, stand pat.

Zach

you think Encarnacion would be worth a pick up….I have K Johnson filling in for Phillips but Lawrie as DH I could move Lawrie to 2B and use him at DH till I get phillips, reyes, or crisp back

Alan,

Yeah, Encarnacion has been hot for awhile now so for the time being I’d definitely play him over Johnson, who just can’t seem to put a consistent run together.

Zach

Which matchup next week do you like better? Kuroda @ Colorado or Wilson @ Angels?

Glenn,

Easily Wilson. The Angels offense is very erratic while Coors Field is always a risky environment to start a pitcher, even someone as consistent as Kuroda. Note that in three career starts @Coors, Kuroda is 0-2 with an 8.27 ERA and 1.71 WHIP.

Zach

Hey Zach, is the old Latos back? Am going for it all this year in my keeper league and have already aquired Pence, Doc and Hamilton so far! Am now considering trading for Latos as I’ve noticed he’s been like his last-season self the past few starts, do you think he’ll keep it going now? Still need to improve in all SP categories even with the addition of Doc! Thanks

Dan,

Yes, I’m becoming a believer in Latos again…3 ER or less in each of his last eight starts to go along with solid strikeout numbers. I’m usually not a fan of trading for starting pitching but if you can still get Latos on the cheap I’m all for it.

Zach

Which matchup is better for the pitcher? Nolasco @ SF
Big Z @ ATL
Lackey @ Sea
or Eovaldi @ Hou
should i pick up one of them for tomlin?

or League for tomlin

Matthew,

Yeah, I like the Nolasco matchup a lot. Even with the Beltran addition, the Giants offense is still sub-par and AT&T Park is one of the most favorable parks for pitchers. Knowing Nolasco he’ll probably get bombed here but I’d take a shot.

Zach

With McCann’s pending return, i need to drop somebody. Problem; both Miguel Montero and Mike Napoli have done well in McCann’s absence. So out of my current roster, who should i drop to activate McCann from the DL?

Current Roster:
C: Montero (ARI)
1B: Votto
2B: Ackley
SS: Ramirez (CHW)
2B/SS: Prado
3B: Bonifacio
1B/3B: Trumbo
OFs: Pence, Swisher, Young (MIN), LoMo, Rasmus
UTIL: Napoli
Bench: Escobar (KC), Morse, Span

Pithcers: Lester, Soria, Hudson (ARI), Perez (CLE), Romero (TOR), Kimbrel, Beachy, Niemann & Shields (lucky enough to pick up SHields when he was dropped).

Anyway, who should I drop to activate McCann?

Seth,

Very tough call but I think I’d drop Montero. He doesn’t have as much power upside as Napoli and has struggled of late (.241 AVG in August). He still doesn’t really deserve to be dropped but you’re in a tricky situation.

Zach

Shin soo choo just got activated today.Do i pick him up and drop Cecil?I like Cecil who has pitched well in his last few starts.I also still need pitching. What do i do?I cant drop anyone else.I need to keep my closers and I still have position players in the outfield like bj upton justin upton, morse, maybin.

DB,

Yeah, Choo is a must pickup in my mind and if it means dropping Cecil so be it. Even if you don’t necessarily need Choo, it’s worth it to pick him up if for no other reason than to keep him away from your competition.

Zach

Im debating if to start price today at yankee stadium. He doesn’t have a good record when pitching at yankee stadium.Do i sit him? Also i got stauffer tomm at reds.Should i start him too.My whip and era are finally competitive after a long season.I dont want those categories to shoot right back up.

DB,

I never sit my aces and Price is an ace, so I’d pitch him. Stauffer is debatable as he hasn’t been great lately and doesn’t have as much strikeout upside as Price, so if you want to sit him I’m fine with it.

Zach

Hey Big Z am chasing the title this year and am trading away prospects for some guys who can help me win now. Looking at either trading for either Cruz ($21) or Pence ($15). Their contracts don’t influence me too much, which one would you rather have for the rest of the year? I need OBP and RBIs the most. Thanks

BB,

It’s close but I’d say Cruz. He’s the more explosive hitter and has the higher ceiling when it comes to homers and RBIs. When going well, he can really carry your team.

Zach
