Updated PoD Category Chart (7/18)
Hey guys,
It’s been awhile since we’ve updated our Pitch or Ditch category chart, so I couldn’t wait any longer! And I’m sure all of you couldn’t wait any longer. Here’s the PDF:
Pitch or Ditch Category Chart 7-18
Here are the changes we’ve made since the last version:
PROMOTIONS
Lohse PoD to grad
Latos PoD to grad
Harrison PoD to grad
Vargas PoD to grad
Jurrjens indifferent to PoD
Quintana indifferent to PoD
Lyles indifferent to PoD
Blackley indifferent to PoD
Fiers indifferent to PoD
DEMOTIONS
Haren ace to grad
Lester ace to grad
Lynn ace to grad
Romero grad to PoD
Big Erv grad to PoD
Bedard grad to PoD
Zambrano grad to PoD
And once again, a reminder as to how the chart works:
We’ve divided all of the current starting rotation pitchers in the Majors into five groups: Aces, Grads (pitchers who should not be dropped and can be started almost all the time), Pitch or Ditch (guys who you should be picking up to start in favorable matchups but do not deserve a regular roster spot), DTMs (guys who we are fed up with and would not start under any circumstances for the time being) and Indifferents (guys who we don’t feel any ill-will towards but who just aren’t that good). Keep in mind that these classifications are very much subject to change throughout the season depending on performance. We’ll be updating the chart every other week. Also, we are basing this on a standard 12-team mixed league.
All feedback is welcome!

what category would Cashner be in once he gets back off the DL?
Shubox,
He’s PoD. He hasn’t quite earned grad status yet.
Zach
Sorry about that, didn’t read the notes under the chart
Hey Zach,
Well, another bad outing from Romero, and yes, I know it came against the Yankees. However, if he is just a situational starter, would you suggest picking someone like Niese, Worley, Buchholz, Feliz, or Sheets?
Thanks.
Rich D.
Rich,
Yeah, I’m totally not opposed to dropping Romero. I’d definitely pick up Niese for him. I’m surprised he’s available.
Zach
Me, too. Someone just dropped him. He just seems more stable this year and Romero isn’t really showing any stability. Obviously, I had him benched today as our Yankees did a number on him in the first.
Hey guys been shopping J Upton in my 10 tm H2H 5 keeper league. I have plenty of OF depth but wanted to move the disappointing Upton to get some more help this year and fuel my first place push. Somebody offered Pujols/Felix for JUpton/Greinke. We have extra stats like H, BB, XBH, TB, OBP, SLG and position doesn’t matter bc either would be at one of my 2 UTIL spots. Am I being silly second guessing this? Coming into the year I considered Upton one of the top 5 keepers, but he has been very frustrating.
Thanks as always!
dmcg,
I still haven’t given up on J-Up for this year and still consider him a strong keeper. That said, you’re getting a very nice return here and Pujols is heating up, so I don’t have a problem with you making this trade. As far as this season goes, I consider Pujols a little less of a question mark than Upton. I’m also concerned about Greinke’s health and I see Felix as a clear SP upgrade.
