Perfect timing on this planning for keepers next year revolves around these 2 positions for me. Obviously things can change from today until Spring Training, but curious on thoughts if I had to pick right now. 10-team vanilla league I get 4 keepers of the following: Stanton, Braun, Mauer, Verlander, Harper, David Price.

Stanton, Braun, & Verlander I’m for sure on – Price I’m thinking is out due to not wanting to keep 2 SP, would I go with the upside of Harper or filling a thinner position with Mauer.

I’d go with Harper. The catcher position will actually be a lot deeper than it’s been in year’s past. Just check out the quality of the honorable mentions. If Harper version 2013 is anything close to Trout version 2012, you’ll be ecstatic.

Where do you see Wil Myers if he gets a full-time job?

Hard to say right now since he hasn’t even made his big league debut yet. To me, he’s worth a flier in mixed league drafts but more like next to last or last round.

What about Victor Martinez for catcher? He missed 2012 but played 26 games there in 2011.

Yeah, V-Mart is a huge X factor for next year. Chances are you’ll be able to draft him within that honorable mentions tier. That move could pay off big time.

Your listings look pretty correct to me. Sure, if it were I rating (and I’m not) the positions may have looked a bit different, but for the most part, your analysis looks pretty spot on to this guy.

Wow J-Up (rightfully so) and grandy have fallen like a stone. Think Cutch has passed Cargo hasn’t he, otherwise pretty accurate stuff guys. Nice work.

No Jacoby Ellsbury?

How is Willingham not even in the honorable mentions yet soriano is… Guy has 35 hrs and 110 rbis while batting 260..

I have a question for F411 & everyone – I’ve been monitoring this and I don’t get why Wilin Rosario is not getting more future love than Mike Napoli. Ranking Nap #7 is why? Because of 2011? In 2013 he has been inconsistent. He also appears injury prone (hammy issues – can’t blame him for the foot). Rosi looks like the up & comer. Please, someone help me understand what I’m missing – Thanks…
2012 stats on 9/29/12…..
Wilin Rosario H/AB:105/379 HR27 RBI:70 BA.277 OBP.319 OPS.860…..
Mike Napoli H/AB:76/338 HR21 RBI:49 BA.225 OBP.342 OPS.789….

* In 2012 he has…

U r not missing any thing and on top of all tht he has the friendly coors field working for him too

No Allen Craig???

Lucroy not even in the top ten? Did you even watch him this year?

I like LuCroy a lot as a 2013 sleeper. Since he missed so much time due to injury, I think he’ll be a little under the radar next year. That said, who would you drop out of the top-10 to make room for him? Maybe Pierzynski considering his advanced age, but I’m having a hard time finding other candidates.

I don’t see why people think that Trout should be the MVP. Miggy had a type of season that comes once every 30-40 years! If Trout really is that good, he’ll win the ROY this year, and then get the MVP next year or the year after that. I’m not trying to take away how amazing Trout’s season was, but he shouldn’t be the MVP. Also, where is Rosario in the top 10 for catchers section? He had a much overlooked year.

I totally agree on Cabrera vs. Trout. Cabrera won the Triple Crown (first one in 45 years) and his team made the playoffs while Trout’s didn’t. To me, that’s enough of a reason.

As for Rosario, one could definitely make a strong argument that he belongs in the top-10 BUT I’d have a hard time removing any of the current top-10 guys. Maybe Pierzynski since he’s getting up there in age and won’t repeat his ridiculous 2012 season. It really got to be a toss-up towards the back end of the top-10.

I have Rosario and V Martinez in a keeper League. If I were to keep one going into 2013 Who should I hold onto? Will Rosario be good enough long term to give up Martinez’s consistent points now?

Interesting one. With no dollar/round values involved, I’ll have to say V-Mart. All we’re hearing is that he’ll be 100 percent for the start of the season and I just wouldn’t be able to pass on a guy who has been an elite fantasy catcher for so many years.
