Pitch or Ditch for Friday, September 14
CORY’S PICKS
An. Sanchez @ Kluber – Anibal hasn’t been great, but nice matchup
Price @ Sabathia
Matsuzaka @ Laffey
Iwakuma @ Darvish – I’d like Iwakuma a lot more at home than in Texas
Wilson @ B. Chen
Liriano @ De Vries – can’t trust Liriano here unless truly desperate for K’s
Saunders @ Milone – Saunders a category-based decision
McDonald @ Rusin – McDonald hit and miss but have to love the matchup
Arroyo @ Turner – don’t trust Arroyo but like the matchup
Detwiler @ Medlen
Hamels @ E. Gonzalez
Niese @ Fiers
Cain @ Skaggs – Skaggs walking too many so far
Chatwood @ Cashner
J. Kelly @ Capuano

Niese @ Fiers so who do you prefer?
NewBD,
I’ll say Niese. Fiers offers the higher K upside but Niese has been the more consistent pitcher this year. Fiers is a bit too blowup prone for my liking.

Yup, just updated it. News of this broke last night, and of course Norris was the picture I chose!

Hey well its the 2nd week of the playoffs and the top 2 of 4 teams with the most categories won go on to the series…..Ive been starting Plouffe over A Cabrera at SS and am thinking of doing so even when he is healthy? Also been sitting Reddick for Cain and Aoki….you think its advisable to sit those 2 also what do you think of Eaton, is he a better option than Aoki or Cain
Alan,
By all means ride the hot bat but it’s not like Plouffe has been great either. I’m just not a fan of his…too streaky and I’m not buying into the power surge this year. To me, Asdrubal is the safer play when healthy. I’d stick with Cain and Aoki for the time being as they’re the hot bats right now. Reddick is ice cold. He’s a very streaky hitter but who knows when he’ll wake up.

Had to pickup a SP as my opponent is streaming like crazy. Best available option was Saunders. Has good career number vs OAK. Hope he can give me a good quality and be in position for a W
Not a bad gamble, Spencer. Just hope that he doesn’t give you one of those 3 IP, 7 ER performances!
