Looks like this All-Star is starting to turn back into a pumpkin.

Looks like this All-Star is starting to turn back into a pumpkin.

Hey everyone,

With less than six weeks to go in the 2013 fantasy season, as Yogi Berra liked to say, “It’s getting late early.” At this stage, every pitch or ditch decision you make is all the more important, so hopefully this updated chart will be a helpful resource. Click on the link below to download the PDF.

POD Chart 8-20-13

Here are the changes we’ve made since our last version from nearly a month ago:

Greinke grad to ace

A. Sanchez grad to ace

W. Chen PoD to grad

Cole PoD to grad

Cashner PoD to grad

B. Chen indifferent to PoD

M. Perez indifferent to PoD

Locke grad to PoD

M. Gonzalez grad to PoD

Dempster grad to PoD

Agree? Disagree? As always, feel free to post your comments and questions here.

Sabathia Ace? He’s PoD at best for me at this point.

He’s probably more like a grad than an ace but I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt due to the track record and potential to get on a roll. Definitely not PoD though. He’s still not a guy who belongs on any waiver wire, and we’ve yet to say ditch on him for any start thus far.

Of these grads, which 2 would you want most?

W. Chen

Replace Ross and/or Gray with 2 of the grads?

Yes, I’d take Chen and Cashner over both of those guys.

J. Zimmeramm would be a grad for me. Jose Fernandez not ace material yet? I’m not sure your guys criteria though. Otherwise looks good.

I don’t know what to do, my pitching is just crumbling, everyone has been terrible. I have Zimmerman, Locke, Garza, Bumgarner, Cain, Iwakuma, and Fister. They’ve been okay and good at times, but they keep getting rocked. What can I even do?

Depends on who’s available on the wire but I still have confidence in all of your guys, maybe with the exception of Locke, who I think is in the midst of a major stat correction. His peripherals even during the first half of the season hinted that this might be coming. I’m lukewarm on Iwakuma as well.

Am about 7 points off top in my 6×6 (holds and OPS) league, need a little bit of hitting help as Pitching has finally righted itself. Bottom of the league proposed this trade: Matt Moore for Josh Donaldson and Rafael Betancourt. Thoughts given that I already have Strasburg and Kershaw as 1 and 2 pitching wise.

Not a bad trade for you, especially if you can use some more saves.

Hey Zach,
I need a backup SS. Andrus is my starter. Here is what is available: Dozier, Escobar, Simmons, Drew, Aviles, Crawford, and Inglesias. Thoughts on one for ROS?
Rich D.

I meant Yunel Escobar, not Alcides.

Overall, I think Dozier is the best option. He offers the greatest power potential and is playing every day.

Hey Zach,
Sorry, second of the day. What are your thoughts on Daniel Nava? I have Agon as my starter at 1B with LaRoche backing him up. LaRoche is now benched against all lefties and he isn’t showing those career second half numbers we have seen in the past. Does Nava play enough to warrant adding him and dropping LaRoche? It’s for the same 10t, h2h, mixed league.
Rich D.

I didn’t even realize that LaRoche has been benched against all lefties of late but I’d still stick with him. Nava’s power has completely disappeared and it’s not like he’s playing every day either.

Hey Zach,

14 team H2H, I currently have Andrus as my SS and asdrubal Cabrera as my util player. Would I be better off dropping asdrubal for any of the following: aramis Ramirez, reddick, bonifacio, gyorko, Jon jay, ruf, Francisco, moss or dozier.

I just want to strengthen my hitting if possible heading into the playoffs.
