Pitch or Ditch for Saturday-Monday, April 12-14

MLB: Texas Rangers at Boston Red Sox

Lackey @ Kuroda

Masterson @ Paulino – Paulino still worth monitoring though despite poor start @COL.

Shields @ Nolasco

Hutchison @ Norris

Cosart @ Scheppers – Hard to trust Scheppers until he puts together a few good outings.

Niese @ Weaver – Niese a borderline call but at least it’s in a pitcher’s park.

Gray @ E. Ramirez – Playing it safe with Erasmo, who got roughed up by these same A’s his last time out.

Cobb @ Simon

Villanueva @ Wainwright

Anderson @ Cain – Anderson not a bad play in deeper leagues for road starts.

Eovaldi @ Pettibone – Very impressed by Eovaldi so far.

Volquez @ Gallardo

Jordan @ A. Wood – Not in love with this matchup for Jordan but Braves offense has underachieved in the early going.

Greinke @ Miley

Verlander @ Kennedy – Tough matchup for Kennedy but at least it’s at home.

Buehrle @ Jimenez – Not a favorable matchup for either.

Kluber @ Quintana – Taking a chance on Kluber here but he scares me a bit.

Vargas @ Correia

Oberholtzer @ M. Perez – Nice matchup for Perez.

Colon @ Wilson

Kazmir @ Young

Doubront @ Nova – Only start Nova in deeper formats. I’d ditch in a 12-team mixed.

TBD (TB) @ Cingrani

G. Gonzalez @ Harang – Not sold on Harang yet.

Alvarez @ Kendrick – This could be 2-1 or 9-8.

Morton @ Lohse

Jackson @ Wacha

Chatwood @ Hudson

Scherzer @ T. Ross – Pitching Ross at home but there’s definitely some risk here.

Haren @ Cahill

Archer @ W. Chen

Elias @ Lewis

Chavez @ Santiago – Chavez lights out through two starts. Taking a break from Santiago.

Big Erv @ R. Hernandez

Wandy @ Bailey – Not a good matchup for Wandy.

Zimmermann @ Hand

Lynn @ Garza

Wheeler @ Collmenter

Lyles @ Stults

Two questions:
1) I think YoGa’s impressive early start is a mirage. His K rate stinks and his velocity is still down. What say you?

2) Does E5’s crazy 29.3% K rate worry you?

Or maybe he’s just learning how to pitch differently. I wouldn’t be in a hurry to cut bait at the first sign of regression but if you can deal him for a quality return, that’s fine too. I just don’t think he has a ton of trade value right now since there’s so much skepticism surrounding him. I’d hold.

Not concerned about E5.

12 team NL only 5×5 deep league so nothing on waivers.
I have an excess of power. I’m thinking of moving a low BA power guy like G. Jones for some speed. I’ve run the numbers and I should still end up 1st in HR and rbi’s without him (same goes if I trade LaRoche, but obviously Jones is my first choice). There are 2 teams with extra speed and a lack of power. I’m looking at E. Young Jr or Lemahieu. My question is can I count on these guys continuing to get enough abs to get me 20 steals or possibly 30 with Young? That should gain me at least 3 points in SB, or should I try to move a better hitter to get a guy like Revere?

My roster:
C. Johnson

DL: Scutaro
ML: Guerrero
B: Federowicz (both teams could use a C who actually plays as well)

Any advice would be appreciated. This is the kind of trade that could potentially win the league for me.

I’d sooner do a smaller scale deal for Young. He’s been getting regular playing time so far and I don’t see that changing. I’d make a Jones for Young swap in a second.
