Pitch or Ditch for Wednesday, April 16

MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates at Chicago Cubs

Hammel @ Tanaka (Gm 1)

T. Wood @ Pineda (Gm 2) – both Wood and Hammel deserve the shot based on results to date

Price @ Tillman

Salazar @ Smyly – could see a combined 18 K’s in about 11.2 IP

King Felix @ Darvish OMG

Buchholz @ Danks – keep an eye on Danks

Dickey @ Pelfrey

Guthrie @ Keuchel – blue-plate special!

Milone @ Skaggs – only using Milone at home

Liriano @ Cueto

Kelly @ W. Peralta

Gee @ McCarthy – Both are due for some positive regression on BABIP and HR/FB

Teheran @ Burnett

Roark @ Fernandez

De La Rosa @ Cashner

Maholm @ Vogelsong

Thoughts on Erasmo? Time to cut him or give him a little more time?

Was thinking of adding Volquez for him in 12 team H2H mixed league.

I’m still high on Erasmo this year, so yes, I’d give him more time. He was very good in his first start of the season, so maybe the A’s simply have his number. He’s only 23 and I love the K potential.

Stay away from Volquez!

Would you buy low on Masterson?

Depends on what buying low means in this case, but for me, two poor outings doesn’t erase what Masterson did last year.

if you had to choose between Hector Santiago, Richards, and Erasmo who has the lowest floor and who has the highest ceiling?

Of the three, I like Santiago the most. Despite the slow start this year, he established himself nicely last season, and 149 innings, including 23 starts, is a decent sample size. I haven’t seen enough from Richards or Erasmo to be as confident about them heading into 2014.

drop Kendrick for Franklin? Also drop Solarte for C Young(OF)
