Pitch or Ditch for Saturday-Monday, May 3-5

MLB: Los Angeles Angels at Washington Nationals

Odorizzi @ Tanaka

Milone @ Lester

W. Chen @ Correia – Pitch Chen in AL-only leagues but these aren’t your older brother’s Twins…5th in Majors in runs.

Iwakuma @ Keuchel – Great matchup for Iwakuma in his return.

Carroll @ Masterson

Smyly @ Duffy – Long layoff for Smyly but he righted the ship his last time out.

Harrison @ Richards – Keep Harrison on your radar but I’d like to see one more good outing, and I’m not in love with this matchup.

Wacha @ Arrieta

Roark @ Burnett – Roark is on a roll.

Dickey @ Liriano – Dickey better of late. I’ll give him a try here.

Vogelsong @ Teheran

Gallardo @ Cueto – Gallardo due for a stat correction at some point though, so I’m a bit nervous about this one.

Maholm @ Turner

Mejia @ Morales

McCarthy @ Kennedy – Nice matchup for McCarthy.

Rienzo @ Kluber – Sticking with Kluber despite inconsistency.

Bedard @ Sabathia – Ditto with CC.

Gray @ Lackey

Verlander @ Vargas – Vargas falling back down to earth?

M. Gonzalez @ Hughes

Maurer @ McHugh – Not sold on McHugh just yet. He’s getting close though.

Darvish @ Skaggs – Matchup makes Skaggs a bit too risky.

Ryu @ Fernandez

Bumgarner @ A. Wood

McGowan @ Volquez

G. Gonzalez @ Hamels

Lohse @ Simon – Gotta ride the red-hot Simon.

Miley @ T. Ross – Losing patience with Miley but how could you sit him here?

Gee @ TBD (COL) – Tough matchup for Gee but hard to bet against him at this point.

Lynn @ Hammel

Gibson @ McAllister – McAllister not a bad option in deeper leagues but two straight mediocre outings have me staying away.

Cosart @ Scherzer

Phelps @ Weaver – Keep an eye on Phelps though.

Young @ Kazmir

Miller @ Harang – Was Harang’s last start the beginning of the end?

Greinke @ Zimmermann

Happ @ Kendrick – Kendrick belongs in PoD discussion but this matchup is too tough.

Petit @ Locke

Niese @ Eovaldi

Quintana @ Samardzija – Quintana 3 ER or less in five of his six starts this year.

Bolsinger @ Garza

Perez @ Lyles – Taking a one-start break from Perez, who is coming off blowup.

Ventura @ Stults

would you drop Wheeler for Niese?

I’d try to hold onto Wheeler, as that last start was at Coors, so I’ll give him somewhat of a pass. I do like Niese though. See if you can add him for someone else.

I need to drop 3 players and I’m not in dire need for HR but I need AVG and SB so I can drop Dietrich, Ellis, Mike Olt Alexi Amarista and Jace Peterson out of those 5 which three do you drop? Thanks, I’m leaning towards keeping Dietrich and Amarista but open to suggestion.

I’m not overly enthusiastic about any of those guys but if I had to choose, I agree with keeping Dietrich and Amarista as the two with the highest floor, particularly from a batting average standpoint.

I want to pick up Singleton because I think he comes up within a month or so. I picked up Kluber to start yesterday and he was outstanding. I also have Farnsworth as 1 of my 4 closers. I typically like have 4 closers in a 12 team league but Farnsworth hasn’t been doing much for me. Would you drop Kluber or Farnsworth for Singleton? Other closers are Hunter, Soriano, Robertson. Thanks Zach!

No, I wouldn’t. I don’t consider Singleton at the same level as a Gregory Polanco, in other words a player who is worth making roster room for in a 12-team mixed non-keeper at the expense of a high-upside SP who is already producing at the big league level or even a low-end closer who still owns the job.
