Pitch or Ditch for Wednesday, May 14

MLB: Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees

Verlander @ W. Chen

Chacin @ Vargas – Vargas better at home but too shaky of late

Rienzo @ Milone – for Milone, see Vargas… Sox can rake

Odorizzi @ Maurer – taking a shot on Odorizzi’s K upside and adjustments in last start

Kluber @ McGowan

Peavy @ Correia

Tepesch @ Feldman

Richards @ Burnett

Fister @ McCarthy – McCarthy’s K-BB and GB rate are elite; fluky BABIP and HR/FB say hang with ‘em

Teheran @ Bumgarner

Tanaka @ R. Montero – put Montero on the watch list, solid prospect

Kennedy @ Cueto – Kennedy has tweaked his repertoire and is officially “back”

Liriano @ Peralta

Hammel @ Wacha – those waiting for Hammel to regress see no signs yet

DeSciafani @ Maholm

Uh oh, Reed just got the dreaded vote of confidence. Another blown save in the next week and you think they give a break from closing?

As a Reed owner in two leagues (one of them being Tout Wars), I’m very concerned about this as well. The peripherals, especially the K/BB ratio, are still solid, but I wouldn’t be surprised if one of those “temporary” changes are made should there be one more blowup in the near future. I think Ziegler is the guy to grab if you’re speculating. I know I’ll consider adding him now just in case.

Raf Montero and Gausman, what are your thoughts on these guys and whether they’ll stick around. Who do you think is more worth owning right now?

I like how Gausman has already gotten a taste of the big leagues but I’m wary of trusting any neophyte pitcher in the AL East. Right now, I’ll give the edge to Montero, but we’ll get a much better idea after tonight. The Yankees lineup is always dangerous but they’re struggling to consistently score runs this season.

I own Altuve and Rendon and can only start 1. I’ve been rolling with Altuve, but have built a pretty large lead in SB. Should I consider benching Altuve for Rendon?

Overall, I still have more confidence in Altuve. He does more than just steal, and I need to see a larger sample size from Rendon.

is Farnsworth worth holding onto….if not getting saves would prefer to pick up Wade davis as a guy for Holds and K’s

I’d hold onto Farnsworth for now until it becomes clear that he’s officially lost his closer job. After all, saves is a category, and middle relievers who get holds and K’s are a dime a dozen.

Hey, whatta you know, Lincecum had a good start, do you think he keeps it up?

What do you think about this trade, Get:Ben Revere Give:Span and Junior Lake in an NL Only league, needing SB’s and Runs have Mesoraco coming off DL soon so I need to open space.

One more thing, do you think I should add Montero? My pitching staff is pretty strong so I’m leaning towards no. This is who I have- Kimbrel, Strasburg, Cashner, Cain, Bumgarner, Colon, Fister, Tom Koehler, Lincecum, Street

Who knows. The problem with Lincecum is that he will have great starts but might follow them with disaster outings. He’s a guy who I might try to trade if he strings together a few solid performances in a row.

thanks on the last call for dropping j.peralta i agreed over the weekend and its good to know we are same page. Big fan of your work, thanks alot for the help! I got one other couple of questions. Who do you feel is a better piece to hold onto eovaldi or miley. I know there is always pitching and quality is the hardest to come by but i have bumgarner, greinke, c.j.wilson, a.j. burnett, and hudson as my locks in the rotation. I am struggling due to wieters being out so i have no catcher satly came up in waviers and their are a few options at catcher so im not sure if i could pick up someone or trade. Any recommendations on a catcher that could be hidden or i should target? Thanks for any feedback your doing wonders for others.

Thanks for the kudos! I like Salty as a quality pickup in a standard 12-teamer. The old and boring A.J. Pierzynski is another guy who might be available (I picked him up to replace Wieters in one of my leagues). As for the SPs, I love Eovaldi’s upside and the K’s. He might be a tad more risky than Miley, but the reward is a whole lot greater. I’d definitely hold onto him.

10T h2h Dynasty – “DL Hell”, still holding 1st but…,7 Keepers DL’d, have 5 DL spots so only 2 use valuable BN spots. Live with it or ditch?………….Keepers DL’d – Kipnis, Trumbo, Profar, Paxton, Cingrani, Hyun-jin Ryu, and the latest – Jose Fernandez!……………REMAINING TEAM – Lucroy, Loney, Neil Walker, Longoria, E Cabrera, Seager, C Gonzalez, C Gomez, Blackmon, W Myers, Yelich, Bogaerts, C Santana, D Brown….Wainwright, Gio Gonzalez, Wacha, Fister, Tyson Ross, Pomeranz, Ian Kennedy, Kimbrel, S Romo, F Rodríguez, C Janssen…………… PROSPECT SLOTS (do count as a roster spot) – Polanco, K Bryant, Buxton, Appel, A Bradley.

Also thinking of dropping Everth Cabrera for Alcides Escobar or Yangervis Solarte, what do you think? Help with this headache is much appreciated, thanks.

I’d have a tough time dropping any of those players, so I think living with it for now is your best bet. The other thing you can do is make one or two 2-for-1 trades where you package a couple of prospects for “win now” players.

I don’t have much of a problem with dropping Everth for Alcides, but maybe I’d first try to trade Everth.
