Pitch or Ditch for Thursday, May 29

MLB: Minnesota Twins at San Francisco Giants

CORY’S PICKS

Martinez @ Deduno – Deduno’s been throwing well but I don’t like this matchup
Porcello @ Chavez - Chavez due for some regression vs. tough offense, but can’t bench him yet
Shields @ Dickey
Minor
@ Peavy – Peavy has not been sharp for quite a while
Jimenez @ Peacock – Astros are a top-10 offense in May…no kidding
Shoemaker @ Maurer
Wheeler @ Buchanan
Vogelsong @ J. Garcia – guessing both are available in a great many daily leagues
Cingrani @ Collmenter – Cingrani pitching for his job with Latos back soon
Cole @ Haren

I was just offered this trade in a 12 team h2h mixed: I get Carlos Gonzalez and Wily Peralta and give up Chris Davis. My other 1B are Hosmer(currently in my utility slot) and Morneau on my bench; my OF are Kemp, Gardener, and Cespedes. My SP are Hudson, Fister, Wilson, Zimmerman, and Anibal. Deal or no deal?

Deal. I’m confident enough in Morneau that I’d be OK with trading Davis. Remember that this trade is essentially Car-Go, Peralta and Morneau for Davis.

Zach,

I wanted to know if I should drop any of my current SP to pick up Hyun-Jin Ryu, Cole Hammels, or Anibal Sanchez from waivers? I am in a very competitive 5 team rotisserie league with a Max Innings Pitched: 1400.

My current SP :
MIchael Wacha, Sonny Gray, Madison Bumgarner, Hisashi Iwakuma, Mike Minor, Gerrit Cole, Jordan Zimmermann.

Whoa, a 5-team league? Honestly, it’s hard for me to keep a straight face when thinking of some of these pitchers as waiver wire material, but the one move I’d make would be to pick up Anibal for Cole.

Zach

Thanks Zach …done …
Yes I could not believe he was still out their… other teams are carrying 4 RP and leaving starters…not sure why? I was leaning on Hyun-Jin Ryu, but why Anibal over Hyun-Jin Ryu? First year in a rotisserie league.

More K’s, a more extensive track record and just a higher ceiling in general. I might actually pick up Ryu for Minor as well.

Zach

Zach,

Done again…Your right I reviewed this, and was holding on to Minor hoping he could turn things around, but he gives up to many HR’s. Last year both pitchers had a break through year . but Atlanta can’t provide Minor the run support to get a win. Ryu is a great call and worth the injury risk scare because he is on a better team, will improve my W /ERA/ WHIP. Besides in his last near perfect game, his K’s, and velocity have improved since his return. Ryu has more upside, so thanks for posting the additional suggestion.
