Pitch or Ditch for Wednesday, June 25

MLB: Washington Nationals at Pittsburgh Pirates

Morton @ Price – Morton is not as good on the road, and the Rays score more at home…trap game

Noesi @ Jimenez

Kuroda @ Hutchison

An. Sanchez @ Saunders

Haren @ Shields

A. Wood @ McHugh – not sold on McHugh but the results have been solid so far

Pino @ Richards

Buchholz @ Iwakuma

Strasburg @ Estrada – Estrada is probably one more bad start from losing his rotation spot

Gonzales @ Flande

Kennedy @ Lincecum – if you can’t use Lincecum at home vs. SD, you should never use him

Latos @ Jackson

Alvarez @ Burnett

Mills @ Wheeler – Wheeler is on a tear and is a must-start, even vs. the A’s

Kluber @ C. Anderson

Can we start to consider Matt Cain DTM yet?

I’m not at that point yet with Cain. He was actually pitching very well in his last start before things came apart in the latter innings, so I’m somewhat encouraged. I think he’s a bench until further notice, but not a drop.

In an NL only league, I am in 3rd place in saves and my closers are Huston Street and Kimbrel. How quick would you be to trade Huston Street for a Starting Pitcher?

It really depends on the spread in the saves category and who the starting pitcher is, but I wouldn’t be in a big hurry to do that. You would basically be gambling on an injury, as when Street is healthy, he’s good.

You don’t think he’s going to get traded?

Wheeler is a must-start? He gave up 4 runs in 2 of his last 3 starts and one of those starts was against the padres…

Hey Zach!
Enjoying Summer? We are almost at the halfway 81 game mark already. Too fast, indeed. Please rank in order at SS: Ben Zobrist, Erick Aybar, and Jed Lowrie. I rank them in that order. Thoughts? It’s a 10 team h2h mixed league.
Rich D.

Agreed. Going into the season, I would’ve ranked Lowrie ahead of Aybar, but the results just haven’t been there for Lowrie (terrible AVG and disappointing HR production).

Thanks for the advice on Morton…
