Pitch or Ditch for Wednesday, August 6

MLB: New York Mets at San Diego Padres

Despaigne @ Correia – Despaigne roughed up his last time out but deserves a shot here.

Tepesch @ Sale

Hellickson @ Gray

Teheran @ Young

Verlander @ Capuano – Verlander pitching well lately.

W. Chen @ Hutchison – Chen a decent option in deeper leagues but I’m not a fan of this matchup.

Haren @ Shoemaker – Bench Haren until further notice. Shoemaker a borderline call but I’ll play it safe in tough matchup.

Niese @ Fister

Peacock @ Buchanan

Koehler @ Locke – Koehler 3 ER or less in four straight starts. Locke scares me.

Salazar @ Latos

Kelly @ Miller – Shelby a bit risky though.

Vogelsong @ Gallardo

Arrieta @ Lyles

Ventura @ Collmenter – Collmenter a worthy NL-only play.

In an NL only keeper league, should I add Javier Baez and drop either, Asdrubal Cabrera or Everth Cabrera? I could keep Baez at 13 dollars next year.

Absolutely! Baez is a must have in all keeper leagues. 13 dollars isn’t exactly a bargain price to start out, but there’s no downside in taking a flier. I’d drop Asdrubal, as Everth is the more valuable fantasy commodity due to his elite speed.

Benching Harper for now, seems unable to make contact you think he will live up to his promise at all this season

Yeah, it does seem like a lost season for Bryce. That said, he’s the kind of player who can get hot in a hurry. I’d keep my expectations in check, but there’s really nothing you can do other than wait it out. Benching him for now is understandable.

Zach, wondering who I should try and get in a trade for the rest of the season; Scherzer, Strasburg, or Anibel Sanchez. One team has all three and wants Freeman (I have Jose Abreu).

I’d rank them Strasburg, Scherzer, Anibal, so try for them in that order.
