Zach’s Two-Start Pitcher Notes – Week of 8/10

Ervin Santana

Price @ Nova – Nova has been solid but Blue Jays offense is too hot right now.

McHugh @ Chavez – McHugh 3 ER or less in eight of his last nine starts but I’m still skeptical.

Cain @ Hendricks – I’ll take a chance on Hendricks here.

Latos @ Liriano – Five straight quality starts for Latos.

M. Perez @ Montgomery

Syndergaard @ Karns – Mets are hot but Karns is quietly getting the job done.

Flande @ Strasburg – Favorable matchup for Strasburg in his return.

Miley @ Simon

Big Erv @ Bauer – Erv has been decent enough to trust versus mediocre at best offenses like the Indians.

Samardzija @ Guthrie – Samardzija has been maddeningly inconsistent but I’ll give it a shot, even against tough KC lineup.

Garcia @ Peralta – Pitch Garcia as long as he’s healthy. Taking a break from Peralta after 6 ER meltdown.

Koehler @ Foltynewicz – Koehler has pitched well against the Braves this year but he’s coming off two straight poor performances. Pitch only in deep mixed/NL-only leagues.

Sampson @ Ray – Ray a borderline call but he’s been much better on the road (2.18 ERA) than at home (4.44 ERA).

Morgan @ T. Ross

Jimenez @ Richards – I will never trust Ubaldo.

Estrada @ Tanaka – Estrada has impressed this year but I don’t like this matchup at all.

Owens @ Verlander – Keep an eye on Owens though. Verlander tempting in deeper leagues.

Hughes @ Kluber – Hughes a bit too risky for my liking.

Colon @ Archer – Don’t ask me why I’m pitching Colon. I guess I just really like the matchup.

Butler @ Scherzer

Quintana @ Duffy – Quintana is on a roll.

Lackey @ Nelson – Ditto for Nelson.

Peavy @ Arrieta – Not completely sold on Peavy but you have to respect the results.

Tillman @ Shoemaker – Tillman is 2-0 with a 0.38 ERA in three starts since the All-Star break. Shoemaker’s second half line is even better (19 IP, 0 ER, 27 K).

Fiers @ Bassitt – This game could be 2-1 or 10-9. I’m feeling lucky.

Lewis @ King Felix – Lewis too combustible.

Williams @ Cashner

DeSclafani @ Corbin – Corbin coming off rough outing but the Reds rank next to last in the NL in runs scored on the road.

Hand @ Miller

Al. Wood @ Morton – Morton is 4-1 with a 2.52 ERA in six home starts this season.

Gray @ Niese – Niese has registered ten quality starts in his last 11 outings.

Boyd @ Cueto

Shoemaker @ Sale

Harang @ R. De La Rosa – Nice matchup for Rubby.

W. Chen @ Nuno

G. Gonzalez @ B. Anderson – Who knows how Gio will fare, but this isn’t exactly a favorable matchup.

Holmberg @ Kennedy – Kennedy a toss-up in 12-team mixed leagues.

I have Choo, Maybin. Trumbo on my team would you drop any of them for Khris Davis? Maybe trade Hanley for street?

Yes, I’d rather have Davis than Trumbo.
