Zach’s Two-Start Pitcher Notes – Week of 9/14

__________________________________________________________________________________________

J.A. Happ

CORY’S PICKS

Hammel @ Cole (Gm 1)

Lester @ Happ (Gm 2) – Not sure I trust Happ but tough to ditch a 1.79 ERA and 42-7 K-BB in 40.1 IP.

Kelly @ Jimenez – Kelly’s won 8 straight starts! Go figure.

Strasburg @ Buchanan

Medlen @ Tomlin

Koehler @ deGrom

Warren @ Odorizzi – Not sure if Warren is stretched out enough yet, but he’s good enough to try, depending on the categories.

Buehrle @ Teheran – Tough matchup but Teheran has been awesome at home.

McHugh @ Holland

Simon @ Hughes

Brooks @ Samardzija – This just hasn’t been the Shark’s year.

C. Martinez @ Pena – C-Mart appears to be out of gas (4.24 second half ERA).

T. Ross @ Chacin

Rusin @ B. Anderson

Tropeano @ King Felix

Lamb @ Heston – Heston only 1 QS in his last 7 starts.

***ZACH SAYS “I tend to be more conservative with starting pitchers as the season winds down since there is less time to recover from disaster outings, so I’m ditching Kelly and Teheran. I still don’t trust Kelly and he hasn’t fared too well against the Orioles this year (6.75 ERA, 1.71 WHIP). As for Teheran, I’m not pitching any non-ace against the Blue Jays. Period. Agree on rest.”

Would you start springer or Souza? Not pitch Tomlin?
