Hey guys,
Once again seeking some advice for my very deep NL only keeper league 5x5 with a minor league roster. I used all my chips last year to finish in the money so I an very much in rebuilding mode after a very bad draft (Kahil Greene, Encarnacion thank you very little). I have some decisions to make as I need to bring up 2 guys from the minors (2 weeks limit once they are brought up to put them active or lose them). Jared Burton (1$,2011) and Nolasco(3$,2011) will have to be activated very soon or lost (was really hoping Burton would be sent down before now). I have Tronsco who I can easily drop but then I have to find one among these guys to either try to trade, or let a guy like Burton (who used to look like the future closer in cinncy) go.
Doug Davis (4$,2011)
Detwiler (7$,2011)
Happ (1$,2011)
Andrew Miller (6$,2011)
Pena (6$,2011)
Pineiro (1$, 2011)
Soriano (6$, 2011)
West (7$, 2011)
I'd love to trade Davis, Pineiro or possibily Pena to a team that needs saves badly. I'm not sure about Detwiler. I know if I drop him he will be picked up (it is really that deep). Don't have a lot of time to make a trade but I guess the biggest question is if any of these guys are worth moving to make room for Burton. I am a little biased because I've had Burton in the minors and had really hoped to see him progress into a nice cheap source of saves in the future, but now I'm not sure if it's worth burning a roster spot to wait and see if he can figure it out.

Hey guys,
Need a quick response on this one if you can.... I give up Morneau and get back Kemp + Cameron. Need some big help in the OF since Quentin may go out for the year. Need a little more SBs, too. Am I giving up too much in the HR and RBI cats? This is a 10-team, mixed, head-to-head, weekly (with OBP, not AVG as the fifth offensive cat). Thanks a million.

hey guys,
probably a stupid question, but do you like inge or sandoval better at C? obviously inge is a lot better right now but i'm not sure if he can keep it up all season. i like sandoval's avg too. i still think the nod has to go to inge because of his power though.
also, do you think a sandoval for matt capps deal is worth it? i need saves, but i'm a little nervous about giving up a solid catcher for a shaky closer...
thanks guys,
kyle

Gurus,
Aramis Ramirez on the DL and Mike Napoli at C (one C league). I flipped Lowe for Jenks, and now have the opportunity to turn around a flip Jenks or Franklin for Brandon Inge - who i would slot at 3B for the remainder of Ramirez's DL stint. A) am i on the right track? - closers are Nathan, Jenks, Franklin, Capps. B) of the two, which closer if either is worth moving for Inge?

hey, I was just wondering who you thought has the better potential between Gallardo and Jared Weaver. Is Weaver the real deal like we thought he was his rookie season or is Gallardo a better bet to have?

Larry,
Piniero is the odd man out, he's over 30 and hasn't won double digit games since 2003. Tronsco is the other. try to trade Piniero but dont kill yourself trying.

Tim,
Don't hate that trade at all. I think you'll come up on top especially since avg is not an issue.

In a non keeper I don't mind keeping Inge and trading Sandoval for Capps. I like Sandoval but right now you need what you need and you have Inge.

Jake,
Cover up ERA and Jenks / Franklin are the same player so not sure it matters which one you move for Inge. I trust Jenks more but hearing he may be on the block and who knows if he goes somewhere else to close. Franklin has been a huge surprise but I wouldn't be shocked if soemone else gets the job second half (injury etc..). Go with your gut you can afford to lose the closer.

Greg,
I'd love to them both. i think they can be border line aces in non mixed leagues next year if not next half and will be decent #2's at worst in mixed. If I had to choose it would be a tie. I think Weaver may be a tad better but Gallardo pitches in the easier league.

Ed in Chi,
If the goal of this trade is to get pitching I take my chances on Papi's bat and know I'm getting an ace. If I'm looking to upgrade from papi to Morneau I do it also even though I'd like to pay a little less then Verlander for that upgrade since I'm giving back a bat. Bottom line pretty fair deal.

Help!!!
I logged on tonight to find out that I just lost recently acquired Peavy for what seems to be a while and then see that Halladay went out with a groin injury.
In my 11-team vanilla 5x5, I was counting on these 2 guys to lead my staff. I was 2nd in ERA, WHIP, and Wins, trailing badly in Ks.
What do I do? My strategy has been to win big on offense, dominate the ratios, and be mediocre in wins and Ks. I have been successful so far, but now trouble!
The best guys on the waiver wire are West, Cahil, Hughes, Nieman, Pavano, Mazzaro, Romero, Andrew Miller, Uehara, Zimmerman
None of these guys can replace Roy or Jake. But, I need someone to fill in and keep my ratios in-tact. Where do I go?
(and pitch or ditch is complicated in this league, its a buck a pick-up, so pure pitch or ditch gets really expensive)

Hey Phoward,
Well, deal with what you know. You know Peavy is out at least four weeks with the ankle issue. So put him on your team's disabled list and pick up Vin Mazzaro, who has a 1.37 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP through three starts. Sean West (2.22 ERA, 0.95 WHIP) is another candidate but his command issues -- 4.7 BB/9 rate at Double-A Jacksonville this year, seven walks in two of his four Major League starts -- indicates his low ratios are somewhat deceiving.
In regards to Halladay, he'll miss his next start but looks as though he'll avoid the DL.
